Biography

Patrick Bonne is a visual artist born in the Bordeaux region and based in Saint-Denis, near the Olympic Village. After a career in aeronautics and then teaching communications, he discovered photography about fifteen years ago, initially as a documentary tool before engaging in experimental and artistic practices. His career is fueled by social and intimate themes: the body, memory, and family relationships. Trained in family sociology and visual arts, he is currently developing pictorial and collage research that explores fragility as a space for creation and resistance.

In 2024, he published *Oubli et merveillement* (Éditions PKS), a book combining text and images around the experience of a caregiver and their partner facing illness, praised for its intensity and singularity.

Statement – Painting

My painting is born of a necessity: to give form to what disappears, to retain the ephemeral and to inscribe in matter the fragile traces of memory. It extends my photographic work, but finds in color and texture a new, more immediate depth.

I explore fragility as a place of strength. Each canvas is a field of tension between erasure and emergence, silence and brilliance. The pigments are worked in layers, deposited, scraped, erased, until they become memory. My portraits and figures seek an intensity of gaze: they do not represent, they reveal. They offer an intimate encounter, a silent face-to-face with the viewer.

My themes are rooted in lived experience—support, love, loss—but they open onto a universal question: what remains? What survives in the shadows and still shines forth in wonder? My current project, *La Fragilité*, deepens this research: exploring the face and the body as places of memory, spaces of erasure and emergence.
